Concord downs A.L. Brown

The Concord softball team beat A.L. Brown 7-4 Tuesday in South Piedmont Conference play at Concord.
Winning pitcher Jessica Batten hit a double to put the Spiders ahead 3-2 in the third inning.
Batten, who had two hits, was relieved by Kristin Durant.
Durant came on in the fourth inning and gave up one hit while striking out five.
Batten allowed six hits and struck out two.
Caitlin Steele and Casey Shue had two hits each in the win.
Concord (4-4, 3-3) hosts Parkwood on Wednesday.
