Trailing 2-0, Piedmont rallied for three runs in the fifth inning in a 5-2 win over Jay M. Robinson in the first round of the Intimidators Classic.
Three hits pulled the Panthers within 2-1, then a two-out fly ball was dropped, scoring two unearned runs that gave Piedmont the lead.
The Panthers added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Both teams had six hits and left eight runners stranded.
Robinson scored in the third inning on Thomas Emery's RBI single, and again in the fourth when Anthony Holdridge hit a run-scoring single.
Holdridge, the Bulldogs' catcher, also threw out two Panthers who were trying to steal second base.
Emery and Zach Baker each had two hits for Robinson.
Piedmont plays Northwest Cabarrus in tonight's 7 p.m. semifinal, while Robinson plays A.L. Brown at 1 p.m. today.
