Caison Roycroft became the first regional swimming champion for Northwest Cabarrus in 3A competition Saturday.
Roycroft, a senior, won the men's 100-yard freestyle in 48.49 seconds.
He led Northwest to a second-place finish in the men's team standings.
Roycroft also was fourth in 200 freestyle.
Zack Lambert, a sophomore at Hickory Ridge, was second in men's 100 backstroke.
Another Hickory Ridge sophomore, Adam Mulchi, was third in men's 50 freestyle.
Northwest senior Yukina Onoda was third in women's 100 backstroke.
Northwest finished third in men's 400 freestyle relay, and Hickory Ridge was third in men's 200 freestyle relay.
Hickory Ridge also placed fourth in men's 200 medley relay.
