Rowan County Sheriff's Office arrested Odessa Dodson of Woodleaf for involuntary manslaughter in the death of her husband Charles Odessa, Rowan County Sheriff's Office spokesmen, Captain John Sifford said.
Friday, deputies and EMS arrived at the residence at 2215 Needmore Rd. to conduct a death investigation.
Charles Dodson's body, 42 years old at the time of his death, was sent for an autopsy.
The preliminary results indicated that his death was due to drug overdose, Capt. Sifford said.
While investigating it was determined his wife had given Dobson the medication, which had been prescribed to her.
They further learned that both Dobson's were scheduled to appear in court in Chatham County on Feb. 11, for a case in which Odessa was accused of assaulting Charles, Capt. Sifford said.
The information was presented to the District Attorney's office, and Investigator Sam Henline obtained warrants on Odessa for involuntary manslaughter, Capt. Sifford said.
Odessa, 45 was arrested and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center, and is still being held under a $100,00 bond.
