CONCORD - Thomas Hill is running for Congress.
The 43-year-old Concord electrician announced his run for the 8th District seat in an e-mail message sent out Sunday night. He said he will run as a libertarian.
His platform includes ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and bringing troops stationed overseas home, abolishing the Federal Reserve and allowing for competing currencies and repealing the Patriot Act and restoring civil liberties.
Larry Kissell of Biscoe won the 8th District congressional seat from longtime congressman, Robin Hayes of Concord, in last year's election.
Hill has run for seats on the Cabarrus County commission, the Cabarrus County school board and in the N.C. Senate. All his runs have been unsuccessful.
