Cabarrus County offices will be closed Monday due to inclement weather and dangerous road conditions.
Cabarrus County Transportation Services will operate on a limited schedule, offering its door-to-door van service only to those requiring life-sustaining medical trips.
County offices that will be closed Monday include the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, Cabarrus County Department of Social Services, Cabarrus County Senior Centers, Board of Elections office, Cabarrus County Public Library branches, Cabarrus County Parks and Cabarrus County Solid Waste.
The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has rescheduled its work session to 3:30 p.m. March 9 due to inclement weather. The meeting will be at teh Cabarrus Arena & Events Center.
County emergency operations, including the Sheriff's Office and Emergency Medical Services, will maintain regular schedules.
Cabarrus officials said just before 8 p.m. that more than 2.5 inches of rain had fallen across the county in the past 24 hours.
Flooding was reported on the following roads: Barrier Road, Poplar Tent Road (at Cox Mill Road), Old Airport Road (bridges), Bowman Barrier Road, N.C. 200, Stough Road, Bethel School Road (near Midland Road), Stallings Road, and Pharr Mill Road (bridge between Sequoia Hills and Rocky River Road).
The following areas also were being monitored for potential flooding: Robinson Church Road near Rocky River Road (culverts flooding), Adams Creek (near Oldenburg Estates) and Hickory Ridge Road near Rocky River Road (culverts flooding).
In Concord, street crews worked to put salt on primary streets. Plowing will commence as the salt starts to melt the snow, though the rate of snowfall made this hard to overcome, officials said around 9:30 p.m.
City officials advise drivers to allow more time for dangerous road conditions.
