Power crews are out today, trying restore power to thousands of homes today as Duke Energy reports about 173,000 outages as of 7:30 a.m. in the wake of the winter storm.
In Cabarrus County, Duke Energy reports about 1,000 outrages, and in Rowan County, there are 10,468 outages reported. In Stanly County, which got about 2 inches of snow, reports 752 outages.
The winter storm dumped between 4-8 inches along the Interstate 85 corridor Sunday night and forced area schools to close.
