Mellena Helms pitched her first perfect game as the Central Cabarrus softball team shut out Vance 17-0 Friday in MECA Conference play.
Helms struck out nine of the 12 batter she faced in the 15-run rule game.
Central's hitting was led by Lindsey Brown with two hits and three RBI.
Also in the win, Alexis Bruce hit an RBI double, Helms added a two-run single and Lauren Howell had an RBI single.
Central is 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
