Central sweeps W. Charlotte

The Central Cabarrus softball team dominated a pair of MECA Conference games against West Charlotte on Tuesday.
The Vikings won the opener 17-0 and the second game 10-0. Both games went three innings.
In the first game, Mellena Helms tossed her second straight perfect game, striking out seven of the nine batters.
Helms also went 2 for 3 at the the plate with a two-run homer and a double.
Chelsea Hartsell went 3 for 3 with three doubles and three RBIs, while Tori Cragen had a double, a triple adn three RBIs.
Also for the Vikings, Ali Harstell doubled, tripled and drove in two runs, while Lindsey Brown had two hits, including a double, and one RBI.
In the second game, Helms went 2 for 3 with an RBI double and Alyssa Arnold had two hits and an RBI. Alexis Bruce homered and Kayla Kindley chipped in one hit and two RBIs.
Chelsea Hartsell recorded the win in her first varsity start. She allowed one hit and struck out three.
