RALEIGH - A plant science company says it will expand its North Carolina operations with a new research center that will employ 128 people over five years.
Gov. Beverly Perdue said Wednesday that Bayer CropScience LP plans to invest $10 million in the facility in Morrisville. Incentives could amount to more than $3 million if Bayer meets its hiring goals.
The company is part of the German firm Bayer AG and is headquartered in Research Triangle Park. It employs 2,400 people in the United States, including 476 in North Carolina.
Until now, the company's primary research and development center has been in Belgium.
The state said the average annual wage for the new jobs is about $101,000, not including benefits. The Wake County average wage is about $43,000.
