KANNAPOLIS - Kannapolis Police responded to a robbery call at Fifth Third Bank on Main Street in Kannapolis at about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Bank employees described a black man wearing women's clothing and a black shoulder length wig entering the bank and demanding money, said Kannapolis Police spokesperson Captain Chuck Adams.
Employees reported that the suspect brandished a handgun during the robbery, and they complied with his demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of money, Capt. Adams said.
No one was injured, and the suspect was last seen getting into the passenger side of a small silver four door car driven by a white driver. The car then left traveling west on Triece Street towards Rogers Lake Road.
Police say the suspect is a black male, six feet tall, weighing about 175 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, a long skirt, sneakers, dark sunglasses, and carrying a purple drawstring cinch bag with the number "84" on it.
