MORGANTON — The Mount Pleasant High baseball team's run through the NCHSAA 2A playoffs ended Saturday night with a 3-2 loss to Patton in the decisive game of the best-of-3 regional final series.
Mount pitchers Cory Huneycutt and Greg Helms combined to throw a three-hitter for the Tigers, but it wasn't enough to offset 10 runners left on base — two each from the second through the sixth inning.
The Tigers finished with seven hits.
Patton led 3-0 through two innings, but Mount Pleasant cut the deficit to 3-1 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Evan Seymour.
Mount pulled within 3-2 in the fifth on Ethan Ledbetter's leadoff home run. It was Ledbetter's second homer of the series.
