The Cabarrus Health Alliance will provide H1N1 vaccinations on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1307 S. Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis.
CHA has 3,500 doses of vaccine for this first community-wide vaccination clinic, according to Dr. William F. Pilkington, public health director for CHA.
The vaccine will be available for the following target groups, based on recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
• Pregnant women
• Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age (i.e. parents, siblings, and daycare providers)
• Health care and emergency medical services personnel
• Persons from six months through 24 years of age
• Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with a higher risk of influenza complication (diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, weakened immune system, etc.)
People are asked to bring their insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cards. No fees will be charged.
People with flu-like symptoms are not eligible for vaccination.
As more vaccine becomes available, additional clinics will be held.
