Cabarrus, Rowan under flood advisories

2:15 p.m.: Cabarrus County remains under a wind advisory until 7 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service said the area could see winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

2 p.m.: Cabarrus Couty has closed Pharr Mill Road Park because of flooding from Rocky River. The county also has closed some trails at Frank Liske Park due to flooding.

Also, from the sports desk, sports editor Steve Winzenread reports the J.M. Robinson playoff soccer game has been postponed to Thursday.

12:12 p.m.: Photographer James Nix reports that Pharr Mill Road, near Harrisburg, is still closed due to flooding from the Rocky River. WSOC is reporting that Stallings Road in Harrisburg is closed because of flooding.

Noon: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties until 2:30 p.m.

The flood watch issued earlier for the area has been extended through the morning.

11 a.m.: Duke Energy reports about 200 customers without power around the China Grove area, along the Interstate 85 corridor.

10:40 a.m.: Duke Energy reports power restored to all areas in Cabarrus County except for one customer in Kannapolis.

10:15 a.m.: The National Weather Service is reporting that Buffalo Creek in Cabarrus County is reaching flood stage. WCNC in Charlotte is also reporting that Rocky River Road at Pharr Mill Road is closed due to flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings for most of North Carolina as the remnants of Hurricane Ida bring heavy rain across the state.

The National Weather Service says moderate to heavy rain will continue in most of the state through tonight. Meteorologists says rainfall amounts will reach up to five inches by Thursday morning.

A flash flood warning, where flooding is imminent or occurring, has been issued for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties. The warning will remain in effect until 11:30 a.m.

By 8 a.m., Duke Energy reported 11,859 power outages in its 36-county service area, including 969 outages in Cabarrus. Power has been restored in some areas, including an apartment complex on the Concord and Kannapolis border and traffic lights at the intersection of Concord Lake Road and Cloverleaf Parkway.

Rowan was among 11 counties included in a flood advisory in effect until 9:45 a.m. this morning. Wind advisories are also in effect for Cabarrus and Rowan until 7 a.m. on Thursday.
