The National Weather Service maintains a wind advisory for Cabarrus, Rowan and Mecklenburg counties until 6 p.m.
As the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida move out of the area, sustained winds will blow between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Along with rain-soaked ground, this could cause trees to uproot throughout the area. Fallen trees could hit power lines and cause power outages.
Contact local law enforcement to report a fallen tree, especially if it blocks a roadway or has fallen on power lines. IF you spot fallen power lines, do not approach them. Call local law enforcement.
To report an outage to Duke Energy, call 1-800-POWERON (1-800-769-3766) or visit http://www.duke-energy.com/north-carolina/outages....
