CHARLOTTE - It's back to average for our weather today, and forecasters are hopeful that conditions could be good for Thursday night's Carolina Panthers' game.
But if you're looking for more of the above-average temperatures that covered the Charlotte metro region the past three days, you're out of luck.
A weak cold front is expected to slip southward from Virginia today, bringing an end to the 70-degree-plus readings of Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Instead, highs today will be where they're supposed to be at this time of year -- in the middle 60s.
Forecasters say there will be plenty of clouds to go with the sunshine today.
A bit of drizzle or light rain is expected tonight and Wednesday, and a real cooldown is forecast
Wednesday, with afternoon temperatures only in the middle 50s. That will be about 20 degrees cooler than the 73-degree high of Monday or the 76-degree reading of Sunday.
But an easterly flow of moist air off the Atlantic Ocean that will help produce the drizzle and light rain Wednesday is forecast to end Thursday. That would be just in time for Thursday night's NFL game at Bank of America Stadium, between the Panthers and Miami Dolphins.
Temperatures are gametime Thursday night are forecast to be in the middle to upper 50s.
Another chance of rain is forecast for late Saturday, as a cold front approaches the region.
