What life and professional experiences do you feel will help you, if elected?
20 years in water and waste treatment, 15 years as a small business owner, dedicated Christian.
What are the three biggest issues facing your constituency and your community?
Jobs: The unemployment rate is the highest in decades. This council should do everything in its power to bring jobs to our community.
Water: Despite the success of getting our interbasin transfer there are others who want to take away our rights. We must do everything we can to provide water for growth in our community.
Safety and Health: As crime seeps into our community we must have an adequate police force to continue our low crime rate in our community. We need to continue to expand our professional fire protection system with additional fire departments and additional professional fire personnel.
What specifically would you do to spur economic development and bring jobs, if elected
Continue to market our community as the place to be with the expanding N.C. Research Campus. Work with Cabarrus Economic Development Corp. to actively recruit companies to our community. Strategically offer incentives to good companies that commit to new jobs. See if we can recruit retail for downtown Kannapolis.
What is your vision for the community that would shape your decisions, if elected?
That Kannapolis and surrounding communities would become the next research park for Piedmont region of North Carolina. We need to create an infrastructure to support that community and then assist in recruiting companies that will bring research jobs and to develop manufacturing companies as off-shoots.
Do you have any hobbies?
Not really. I enjoy reading technical magazines and books.
What is the last book you have read?
The user manual for a Yamaha LS-9 Mixer
