CONCORD - Jimmie Johnson drove to victory Saturday night in the NASCAR Banking 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Johnson, who scored his first win at LMS in four years, finished ahead of Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon and Joey Logano.
"In that last stop, we had the car where it needed to be," Johnson said.
Matt Kenseth said after the race he was happy with how his car had been running all night.
"It was a confidence booster for me and my team," he said.
Kasey Kahne was less enthusiastic. He said his No. 9 Bud Dodge ran well, but wasn't fast enough at the end. He also said he continues to have problems on restarts, with spinning tires.
"I've always had problems with restarts," Kahne said. "I try not to spin the tires, but I do."
Johnson leads the points standings as he seeks his fourth Sprint Cup Series championship in a row. He leads Mark Martin, his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, by 90 points.
