CONCORD — Two people have been arrested in connection with the New Year's Day shooting death of a 14-year-old Concord boy.
Concord Police found Oscar Martinez dead in the parking lot of Dover's Supermarket on Cabarrus Avenue on the afternoon of New Year's Day.
Police arrested a 15-year-old on Saturday and charged the suspect with first-degree murder. The suspect is in a juvenile detention center awaiting trial.
Chief Merl Hamilton said Martinez and the shooter knew each other.
"They had been arguing for some time, culminating in the shooting," Hamilton said.
Police also arrested Ceabastian Rojas Hernandez, 18, of 300 Melrose Drive, Concord, on Monday and charged him with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. He is in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
Hamilton declined to elaborate on Hernandez's involvement, but said police knew he was involved with the shooting.
Investigators believe Martinez, Hernandez and the shooter were not enrolled in school at the time, Hamilton said.
The investigation is ongoing.
