MOUNT PLEASANT - A Mount Pleasant boy is in stable condition after a Boone woman shot him Friday.
Cabarrus County sheriff deputies arrested Patti Hatcher Campbell, 48, of 5140 Bamboo Road, Boone and charged her with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. She is in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $1 million bond.
The incident happened at 131 Fritzvon Drive in Mount Pleasant. A juvenile called 911 and said his 12-year-old brother had been shot.
The mother and younger brother of the 12-year-old boy wrestled the gun away from Campbell. She was treated at CMC-NorthEast for minor injuries before being arrested and taken to jail.
Sheriff Brad Riley said in a statement that Campbell knew the family and was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the shooting.
