Northwest routs South Rowan, 12-0
The Northwest Trojans girls soccer team opened the season by beating South Rowan 12-0.
Erica Merriman and Gretchen Price had three goals each, and Stephanie Isidori added two.
Rebecca Jackson, Skyler Olsen, Jessica Sellars and Courtney Peace also scored. Merriman and Jackson had two assists each.
Katie Guadarrama and Chelsea Medlin shared time in goal in the shutout.

Robinson tops Cannon School
The Jay M. Robinson softball team beat Cannon School 15-3 in five innings.
Dallas King was the winning pitcher. Megan Crowe had three hits and two RBI, and Alex Church added a triple and single.

A.L. Brown picks up first victory
The A.L. Brown baseball team rallied to beat Parkwood 8-3 for its first victory of the season.
Winning pitcher John Tuttle went five innings in the nonconference game.
The Wonders (1-2) tied the game when a bunt by Wes Honeycutt was thrown away. Honeycutt scored on a passed ball.

Cox Mill bests South Rowan
The Cox Mill softball team beat South Rowan 7-2 in nonconference play.
Winning pitcher Nikki Faust struck out eight while going all seven innings. She also had two hits and four RBI.

Burris' four hits propel Mount Pleasant
Brandon Burris had four hits for Mount Pleasant in a 3-1 nonconference baseball win against South Rowan.
Blake Houston and Eric Tyler had two hits each for South Rowan.

Concord blanks Central in SPC tennis
The Concord boys tennis team beat Central Cabarrus 9-0. Singles winners were Justin Wycoff, Mason Croley, Colin Miller, Casey Aldridge, Bryson Goolsby and Felix Cantos.
Concord is 3-1 overall and 2-1 SPC.

Boone and Paul Flowe won No. 2 doubles, and Abba and Zong Yang won No. 3 doubles.

The Concord Middle boys seventh-grade basketball team beat J.N. Fries 45-21 in the first round of the league tournament.
Joekeem Neal led Concord (10-1) with 18 points.
Concord and Northwest both were 9-1, tying for best records in the conference during the regular season.

The J.N. Fries girls basketball team beat Concord 35-27 in the first round of the league tournament.
For Fries (8-3), Amaya Scott scored 22 points and Jasmine Misenheimer added 10. Nakiah Black led Concord with 17 points.

The Cannon School girls soccer team beat Covenant Day 2-0.
Shelby Dyl and Vicky Bruce scored goals. Bruce and Lindsay Cooper had assists. McKenzie Dickerman recorded her second shutout of the season.

First Assembly Middle wins
The First Assembly Middle School softball team opened the season by beating SouthLake 22-1.
Laura Stevenson was the winning pitcher. Audrey McLamb and Morgan McClellan had three hits, and Sarah Stevenson tripled and singled.

Cannon outscores Cary
The Cannon School lacrosse team beat Cary Academy 12-8.
For Cannon, Brendan McWilliams had five goals and two assists, Pat Hennigan had three goals and two assists and Chase Travis had two goals and two assists. George Benda made 11 saves in Cannon's season-opener.

Northwest Middle advances
The Northwest Cabarrus seventh-grade boys basketball team eat Kannapolis 58-39 in the first round of the league tournament.
For Northwest (10-1), Jonathon Rucker had 17 points, Derrick Farquharson 12 and Rayjon Tucker 10. R.J. Fowler led KMS with 20 points.
Northwest and Concord both went 9-1, tying for best record in the conference during the regular season.
