A water main in Concord broke early Wednesday morning, forcing an elementary school to close.
The water line, near Miramar Street, broke around 4:30 a.m. and created a sinkhole on Grandview Drive. It also has forced Beverly Hills Elementary School to close for the day and for CMC-NorthEast to delay its surgery schedule, due to reduced water pressure.
The hospital remains open, but is using emergency bottled water and irrigation wells are being used for non-potable uses.
Residents on the line are being asked to conserve water while utility crews work to repair the line.
