SpiriTED comes to Salisbury

An “entertaining and spirited night.” That's the description offered up by Janet Clazzy, 58, one of the musical performers featured in the SpirTED, Tuesday and Wednesday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Salisbury.

Clazzy and Jonathan Richard Cring, 59, fill 60 minutes with music, humor and a message of hope. The duo has known each other since 1982, and shared a passion for music. Clazzy is the musician and Cringe writes music, books and movie screenplays.

The free event has been traveling throughout the United States since December 2010, and has reached more 25 states and about 160 cities.

“Some call it a spirited concert, but we call it a spirited event,” Clazzy said. “By spirit we mean, take a look at the world we live in where the spirit and wisdom, God's energy, is slowing right now.”

They are offering “good energy” through music and words.

“Jonathan is a fabulous singer,” Clazzy said. “So it's humor, spirit, singing and then I come on and play my horn.”

During the 60 minutes Cring teaches, according to Clazzy, talking about revival.

“It's revival in the sense of the notion God wants us to treat each other better. If we are Christians we need to treat each other better and try to stop the madness that is going on in this world,” Clazzy explained.

Cringe has created a simple saying that serves as his theme for the evening, “No one is better than anyone else.”

Each of the two nights will be different material and music.

“We have so much to share,” Clazzy said. “Why we do this, is because the church is the only human watering hole left in America where a Republican and a Democrat have to come in and sit down next to each other and shut up.

“We are trying to erase some of the division lines in this country by recognizing we are all human beings. We would love for people to come out and give it a chance. It is only one hour, and if you think it as good as we think it is, come back out Wednesday night.”

The event will take place at St. Petersburg Lutheran Church in Salisbury on Tuesday and Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church is located on 2570 St. Peter's church Rd. in Salisbury.

SpiriTed Live is free to the public, but a donation plate will passed during the performance.
