The Cabarrus County Board of Elections opened candidate filings at noon Monday and will continue to take filings until noon Feb. 29.
The primary is set for May 8 with the general election scheduled for Nov. 6.
Holly Blackwelder, who currently serves on the Cabarrus County Board of Education, was one of a number of candidates who filed Monday. She is running for one of the two seats available on the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners in this year’s election.
