A Concord man was being held on a $500,000 bond Wednesday at the Cabarrus County Jail after being charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Darrell Paul Donahue, 47, of 6540 Rock River Road, Concord, was charged after an investigation by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, Concord Police Department and agents from the Department of Homeland Security.
Officials executed a search warrant at Donahue’s home on Tuesday, according to a press release.
The investigation began when the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office discovered a suspect had recently transmitted child pornography from a home computer. It was discovered that Homeland Security also had an open investigation on the same home where the search warrant was served. The two agencies then conducted a joint investigation.
Officials declined to elaborate because of the sensitivity of the case and in order to protect the victims. They did say they are continuing to investigate the crime.
